PERSONALITY

A chain-smoking, gun-toting priest (allegedly) who is more of an assassin (confirmed), Wolfwood is a sharp-edged realist who's determined to survive the violent world he lives in. He has little time or patience for lofty ideals of peace and saving others' lives, when a quick shot can take out a threat much faster. For Wolfwood, the risk of retaliation isn’t worth the chance that someone might have a change of heart.

Brought into an assassin cult as a child, Wolfwood quickly had to tamp down on his kinder instincts and become an expert killer. Wolfwood's determination to survive ultimately comes back to his childhood and his desire to keep his home out of harm's way, no matter the cost to himself. His cynical worldview that killing is inevitable and it's better to take someone out before they can hurt you causes him to clash constantly with Vash the Stampede, the pacifistic gunman he's assigned to guide towards his destiny.

Despite his constant fights with Vash about the nature of killing and what’s most important, Wolfwood eventually comes to believe what Vash says about doing better as a person, and that a murderer doesn’t always have to be a murderer. He’s entirely used to fending for himself and struggles to break away from that.

Wolfwood is a bit mercurial. He is friendly and personable to most regular people he meets, and definitely sees value in kindness and mercy. He does have compassion for others, though he doesn't always show it particularly well. On the flip side, his temper is short and he doesn’t hesitate to lash out at anyone he thinks is being idiotic, either with words or with fists. He is ridiculously stubborn about what he thinks is the right thing to do and will arc up in a fight over it if challenged. Wolfwood is cranky and cynical a lot of the time, or just downright angry, especially if the situation is bleak or dangerous. He tends to be blunt in his assessments and doesn’t dance around difficult subjects.

ABOUT

Wolfwood is a traveling priest who is really an assassin, sent to guide Vash the Stampede across No Man's Land as he fights to protect people and is set upon by the rogue's gallery known as the Gung Ho Guns. That's the story, at least - Wolfwood is in fact one of the Gung Ho Guns himself, playing a double agent role to get Vash to where he needs to go. Raised in an assassin cult, Wolfwood underwent physical and surgical enhancements to make him stronger and faster than the average human. The process also forced up his metabolism, causing him to age much faster.

Wolfwood keeps his cards close to his chest, though he begins to doubt his role and how much he can really stand his own actions. When push comes to shove and Vash becomes captured, Wolfwood decides enough is enough and he breaks the other man free, at great risk to himself. Turning traitor, Wolfwood decides to follow Vash's ideals instead, to try and scrape some hope out of the world while he can.

INFORMATION

Height: 6'1" / 1.85m

Build: Lean but well-muscled

Hair: Black

Eyes: Grey

Other notes: Wolfwood will always reek of cigarettes and will be smoking one a lot of the time.

Content warnings: Wolfwood's history includes murder, child abuse, cult indoctrination, gun violence, surgical horror and a lot of moral greyness. Trigun Maximum on top of this also includes body horror, genocide, rape, cannibalism, and a lot of other violent topics.

Wolfwood is younger than he looks and while he will not behave in a way that suggests that most of the time, I understand if this is a subject you'd rather avoid while threading with him.

ABILITIES

Wolfwood is a formidable gunfighter, one of the best in his world. His main weapon is a huge cross-shaped machine gun/rocket launcher combo, which he can throw around in addition to firing with. He also uses handguns. Wolfwood's greatest asset is his battle smarts and his ability to keep improving the longer a fight goes on. If someone fails to kill him early in a fight, Wolfwood can and will eventually figure out a way to get through their defenses and defeat them. He is keenly observant and is constantly assessing how best to kill or disarm his targets.

Wolfwood has been physically and surgically enhanced to make him stronger, more durable and faster than your average human. This is akin to super-soldier level abilities. He can see much better in the dark than the norm, can jump higher and further, and can survive injuries that would kill most people (like being shot dozens of times). He is very physically strong, being able to wield his large Punisher gun easily, and also pick up and throw heavy tables without much effort.

He heals faster than usual as well, though not instantly. If he takes a regenerating serum he can heal wounds in seconds, but without them he will just heal at 2-3 times the normal human rate.
